Once again, the iPhone is tops in customer satisfaction when it comes to smartphones, according to JD Power's semiannual study—and it's also getting top marks form business users.
AllThingsDigital has a chart with additional results in the consumer smartphone survey (conducted between January and June 2009, so the figures don't factor in recent handsets like the HTC-made myTouch 3G or the Palm Pre), which show HTC trailing RIM with a score of 739, followed by Samsung (739), Palm (731), and Motorola (700).
Meanwhile, the iPhone also scored surprisingly well with business users, who I would've guessed would be more partial to BlackBerrys. Indeed, Apple was king of the hill in the JD Power business smartphone rankings with a stellar 803 out of 1,000 points, followed by RIM (724), Samsung (697), HTC (692), and Palm (688).
This isn't the first time that the iPhone has topped JD Power's smartphone satisfaction surveys; indeed, the iPhone took top honors in April's consumer smartphone study, and it was the champ in last November's enterprise smartphone results.
But while personal and business chatters alike are generally enthusiastic about their iPhones, they're apparently a little less thrilled about the iPhone's battery life—or lack thereof. When you sort the JD Power consumers smartphone ratings by "battery function," the iPhone falls into the bottom two, along with HTC.
As far as "traditional" phones are concerned, LG took the No. 1 spot with 723 points, followed by Motorola, Sanyo, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, and Kyocera.
